The Apprentice’s Dr Leah Totton launches science-backed sustainable skincare range
Dr Leah Totton became a household name after winning BBC One’s The Apprentice in 2013. Her business plan, a cosmetic clinic chain named Dr Leah Clinics co-owned with Lord Alan Sugar, launched in 2014.
Now Totton, who is also expecting a child, has launched a new scientific, sustainable skincare range called Dr Leah Skincare. The range is vegan-friendly, paraben-free and safe for use during pregnancy - Totton has been using the range herself during her own pregnancy.
More than seven years in the making, Totton launched the line with two core scientifically formulated products: Dr Leah Foaming Cleanser and Dr Leah Facial Moisturiser.
Priced at £50 and £55 respectively, both products will be available to buy from all Dr Leah Clinics and online at www.drleahskincare.co.uk.
The fragrance-free moisturiser contains a blend of naturally hydrating products like shea butter, avocado oil, and mango seed butter. The foaming cleanser is enriched with natural extracts including Jasmin and Aloe Vera to help protect the skin’s natural barrier while removing dirt and impurities.
Created to meet Totton’s unmet requirements
Despite successfully treating thousands of patients with various skin types and concerns, Totton was surprised by the lack of clinically formulated products offering a clean ingredient list and sustainable packaging. Inspired by conversations with her patients, she decided to combine her expertise in skincare and science to meet this need.
“As a doctor and a skincare specialist, I have listened to my patient’s skin concerns and questions surrounding skincare products,” said Totton.
“I struggled to recommend a brand that combined medical efficacy with safe, clean ingredients and was environmentally considerate. This inspired me to create a collection of core products based upon science, safety and sustainability.”
The range of products was developed, together with business co-owner and partner Lord Alan Sugar, over seven years to be free from parabens and harmful ingredients.
“It has taken me many years to create a formulation which encapsulated my vision of a clinically formulated product without harsh ingredients and with an environmental philosophy,” said Totton. I wanted to ensure I created a core range of products which were inclusive for everyone to use and suitable for all skin types as this reflects the thousands of patients we see in Dr Leah Clinics each year.”
Since her win on the popular BBC One show, Totton and Sugar have enjoyed huge success, with their multi-award-winning chain of Dr Leah Cosmetic Clinics located in London and Essex.
“Following the success of Dr Leah Clinics, I’m thrilled for Leah on the launch of her new Dr Leah Skincare collection,” said Sugar.
“She’s continued to regularly update me on the process of the products’ formulation so I know first-hand how much care and attention to detail is within each bottle. I am in no doubt that the collection will be hugely popular.”
Dr Leah Skincare is set to release more products in Spring 2023.
