Corti launches next-generation assistant to address clinician demand for second opinions

Ian Archbold looks into new study by YouGov, revealing that 57% of UK healthcare professionals believe having an experienced colleague present during patient consultations would be invaluable.

Responding to this need, Corti has introduced Corti Assistant, an advanced AI platform designed to provide real-time, expert-level support for clinicians. With its "supportive computing" foundation models trained on over 250,000 daily patient interactions, Corti Assistant is set to transform the healthcare landscape.

Revolutionising clinical support

Corti, a leading AI research and development company in healthcare, has launched Corti Assistant—a platform delivering live feedback and insights during patient interactions. By upgrading AI capabilities to emulate the expertise of a seasoned colleague, Corti Assistant offers immediate interactive support, streamlined documentation, and live written summaries, enabling healthcare professionals to enhance their decision-making and efficiency.

“We’re not just creating another dictation tool,” explained Lars Maaløe, CTO and co-founder at Corti. “Corti Assistant transcends traditional scribing by offering streamable insights while ensuring doctors maintain complete control over patient care, all while getting paperwork done to the highest standard.”

Tackling a pressing need in healthcare

Corti’s research, conducted in partnership with YouGov, surveyed 507 UK healthcare professionals. Findings highlight that 55% of clinicians lack access to colleague support during consultations due to overburdened workloads, while 36% reported colleagues being too stressed to provide assistance. Additionally, half of respondents acknowledged that a second opinion would enhance their practice.

Reducing errors and improving patient safety

Preventable harm during medical care affects 6% of patients in the UK, with 12% of cases resulting in severe harm or death. Medication errors, a key contributor, account for an estimated 237 million incidents annually, costing the NHS £98.5 million. Corti Assistant aims to address these challenges by providing:

Streamable medical intelligence: Real-time processing and contextualisation of medical conversations with actionable insights.

Ambient documentation: Automatic transcription, summarisation, and coding of interactions, minimising the need for edits.

Quality assurance: Identification of gaps in care and compliance with best practices.

Interactive dialogue: AI-driven insights and clarifications during or post-consultation.

Customisable integration Seamless adaptation to workflows and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Continuous learning: Improvement through user feedback and memorisation.

Dr Frederik Brabant, Chief Medical Strategy Officer at Corti, elaborated on the platform’s mission: “Every doctor knows that moment of doubt behind closed doors—when you wish you had someone to validate your thinking. Corti Assistant ensures no physician has to face those critical moments alone, empowering healthcare professionals to make safer and more confident decisions.”
