Sponsored news: Periocular solutions with peeling and mesotherapy

If the eyes are the windows to the soul, the periocular area represents the shutters, façade, casings and mouldings – critical aesthetic features.

The periocular region has unique physiology that requires a dedicated full-spectrum approach. Skin thinness (limited to 300 – 800 microns) and mobility make it one of the first areas to show signs of ageing. Crow’s feet, laugh lines and wrinkles are common, but many patients also present with tear troughs, temporal fossa atrophy and infraorbital dark rings.

The early introduction of preventative treatments to avoid photoageing, maintain skin tone and pigment evenness is the first point of reference, however corrective treatments, including peels, fillers, mesotherapy and carboxytherapy should be combined to rejuvenate areas of visible ageing.

The main periorbital imperfections approached by aesthetic medicine are: idiopathic hyperchromias (pigmentary or visualisation of the vascular network); under-eye bags (fat, liquid or due to genetics); drooping upper eyelid (aponeurotic ptosis, dermatochalasis, fatty hernia or blepharochalasis) and wrinkles (gravitational, of compression or dynamic). The most common aetiological causes identified are: morphological changes in the bone, skin and/or soft tissues; circulatory disorders; genetic component characteristic of the patient.1-3

The use of intra-dermotherapy in combination with chemical exfoliation adapted specifically for this area positions it as an alternative solution to surgery for many of the above-mentioned indications.

Mesoestetic has developed a combination therapy treatment programme using formulations specifically developed to treat this area; the combination of microneedling or mesotherapy with Melilot and Mesopeel Periocular for the reduction of wrinkles, idiopathic hyperchromia (due to pigmentation and visualisation of the vascular network) and aponeurotic ptosis.

A robust multi-factor approach is recommended:

Prevention: Mesoprotech from Mesoestetic

  •           Photoageing is one of the key accelerators of cosmetic issues
  •           Good sun hygiene can make a huge difference, and it’s never too late to start –

-      manage time / timing outside

-      wear appropriate clothing and covering

-      full-spectrum barrier for the face is probably the most effective complementary product

-      HEV protection is important to maintain skin collagen and elasticity

Maintenance: Mesoestetic homecare

  •           A range of eye contour topical products are available which are specifically formulated for the area in question –

-      Energy C – enhances tone and hydration, reduces wrinkling

-      Collagen 360⁰ – stimulates collagen rejuvenation and promotes tightening of skin

-      Radiance DNA – all-round repair which mitigates wrinkles, dark circles and eye bags

-      Ultimate W+ spot eraser – For treatment of periocular hyperpigmentation

The use of specific homecare products and ongoing maintenance treatments to maintain tissue tone, pigment distribution and skin protein synthesis are the key non-surgical options for periocular treatment.
