My background within the Aesthetics Industry is: Partner in the Medical Law & Patient’s Rights team at Irwin Mitchell and I lead a team that acts exclusively for Claimants in clinical negligence cases. Mandy and her team members have a particular expertise in cosmetic surgery and cosmetic dentistry cases and her portfolio includes:

  • Substandard abdominoplasty resulting in sepsis and severe scarring
  • Dermal fillers resulting in facial deformity
  • Substandard rhinoplasty procedures resulting in facial deformity

Mandy has achieved a 100% success rate at trial and secured UK record payments for Claimants. Last year she has secured over £14 million for clients damages. She is regularly contacted by the media to quote on developments and regulation within the field of cosmetic surgery and has been quoted in The Sunday Times Magazine and the Daily Mail.  She is a regular contributor to the Journal of Aesthetic Nursing. Last year, Mandy has presented at the following leading events: Aesthetic Conference & Exhibition, FACE 2014, Clinical & Cosmetic Expo (CCR Expo), British Association of Cosmetic Nurses. Mandy has also presented webinars for MBL on ‘Running a Successful Cerebral Palsy Claim’, ‘Rise of Cosmetic Surgery Litigation’, and ‘Civil Procedure Rules’.

Advisory Positions: Expert panel of Safety in Beauty, The Wright Initiative’s expert panel of the Pre and Post-Surgical Support initiative (PaPSS).

Professional Memberships: Professional Memberships: Member of the Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel, APIL, BMLS.

I was inspired to get into the Aesthetics Industry becauseThere are some fabulous aesthetic practitioners within the industry but partly due to poor regulation, there are examples of very poor practice by untrained practitioners causing serious injury to patients. Given the popularity of cosmetic interventions I have been inspired to become involved in the aesthetics injury to raise awareness of patient safety and campaign to improve regulation.

What I’ll be doing at AM LiveI will be advising practitioners what to do if they are facing a clinical negligence claim.

My topic is: The Blame Game – What to do if you are being sued

The key objectives that delegates will walk away with:

  • A more in-depth understanding of why patients decide to sue
  • Top tips to introduce to your practice to avoid being sued
  • What to do if you are being sued

Mandy will be speaking on Saturday 25 April 2015 at our Conference - secure your seat, here
