Q&A with Paul Banwell, Consultant Plastic Surgeon at The Banwell Clinic

My background within the Aesthetics Industry is: I am a Consultant Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon practicing in the South East of England and in London with a specific interest in skin health and cosmeceuticals. I lecture worldwide, am on the editorial board for Aesthetic Medicine and I am a judge for various panels, such as the Professional Beauty Awards.

I was inspired to get into the Aesthetics Industry because: I think that plastic surgery is a fascinating specialty in that it encompasses both restoring function and, from an aesthetics point of view, it aims to improve the status quo and goes above the norm. Just as reconstructive work can inspire and help people, the aesthetic work can do likewise. I am in a lucky position that I treat both sides of things.

What I’ll be doing at AM Live: I am chairing a very exciting session on the business of skincare and the latest advances in cosmeceuticals. I will be speaking within that session and we have excellent speakers from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. I am also very excited about the panel discussion that we are going to have, and I think it will help delegates enormously in terms of getting top tips on how to improve their skincare business and to get some core knowledge on cosmeceuticals.

The key objectives that delegates will walk away with: from my talk are the classification of cosmeceuticals and the latest ingredients in cosmetic medicine, such as resveratrol and various botanical ingredients including the latest advancements in superfluids and isotropic formulations. From the talk that I will be chairing people will be able to come away with some excellent hands on knowledge of how to treat patients with skincare and most importantly to recognise the benefits of cosmeceuticals in aesthetic medicine practice and how to generate a good business model.

Paul Banwell will be chairing the Business of Skin Symposium from 10am-12.30pm on Sunday April 26.
