SculpSure Submental has arrived…now available in the UK

The face and neck are the prime focus of cosmetic concern to a huge population of patients, and submental fat represents a problem across all age groups and both sexes as it cannot be easily hidden or disguised with clothing.

Non-surgical techniques for treating submental fat are becoming increasingly sought by consumers but there are limited non-invasive or minimally invasive treatment options available that are demonstrated as safe and effective in their method and thus cleared by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA).

Enter SculpSure. Sculpsure is the first in class for non-invasive hyperthermic fat reduction treatment using a 1060nm laser. Launched in 2015 for abdomen and flanks, last Autumn Sculpsure was granted an expanded FDA 510(k) clearance and European Medical Device Directive (MDD) certification for the treatment of the double chin submental area making it the sixth cleared body treatment area.

The results for the submental area are impressive, with a 100% patient satisfaction rate in the multi-center clinical trial and an average of 23% fat reduction measured with ultrasound. Launched in the UK in 2018, early adopters are already seeing fantastic outcomes with the FDA clearance covering the treatment of patients with a BMI of up to 43 which is a significant benefit over the competition in the non-invasive market that is only FDA cleared for patients with a BMI of up to 30 - less patients need to be turned away from a practice.
