Dr Lucy Glancey to do live demonstration of Elionce PDO threads at Aesthetic Medicine Live

Dr Lucy Glancey will doing a live demonstration of Elionce threads at Aesthetic Medicine Live this weekend. The presentation and live demo will take place on Saturday February 4 as part of the 4pm session on "Threads: Here to Stay or Five Minute Wonder?" on Agenda 2 of the main clinical conference.

In recent years PDO thread therapy has seen an increased popularity amongst patients and practitioners in the UK. Thread therapy originates from oriental acupuncture techniques intended to control and improve tissue stimulation and muscle contraction via cellular mechanotransduction. Today it is used .as a solution for sagging skin and wrinkles with rejuvenating and lifting effects that are supported by scientific research. Elionce™ is a premium PDO thread range, which has recently been launched into the UK by Elionce Global. The company aims to drive up the standards in PDO thread safety, practice, training and support and provide practitioners with a high quality threads and which are simple to use.

Elionce™ is a premium thread lift therapy that seeks to restore the 3-dimensional youthful topography via minimally invasive facial rejuvenation. Elionce™ polydioxanone (PDO) threads are biodegradable and have been in medical use for more than 30 years, in particular in delicate surgical procedures such as cataract operations. ElionceTM threads are composed of the absorbable synthetic polymer PDO. They are certified as Class III products under the European Medical Device Directive with the CE Mark guaranteeing product quality and safety: The threads can help eliminate as well as prevent the signs of ageing by rejuvenating the structure of facial tissue. Elionce™ PDO threads are delivered using either fine gauge needles with a smooth electropolished blade and bevelled edge or carefully designed cannulas that help to reduce facial trauma.

The threads work at three levels:

1. Thread anchor points hold the tissue and provide lifting when tensioned

2. Mechanical stimulation of the cells in the skin (mechanotransduction) via insertion of threads into the dermis or subcutaneous tissue

3. Via the biomedical properties of the PDO which, as the threads dissolve, promote the generation of collagen to maintain the lifting effect and improve skin tone

The procedure is extremely versatile and can be used in many areas of the face and neck. It is specifically designed to eliminate fine lines, make deep wrinkles appear smoother, and improve skin colour and elasticity. Results last up to 18 months and the biodegradable threads allow patients to undergo further treatments in the future as they do not have the inherent problems associated with permanent threads that may require removal, if misaligned.

Suitable treatment areas include:

  • Forehead
  • Eyebrows
  • Tear trough and eye bags
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Cheeks
  • Nose
  • Oral commissures
  • Peri-oral
  • Sub-mental
  • Pre-jowl sulcus
  • Neck

Dr Glancey comes from a clinic recognised as a thread-lifting centre of excellence and, after using Elionce™ in clinical practice, strongly feels the premium range sets the brand apart from other competitors in the market. She says, “I have been using Elionce™ for a couple of months now and the results that I am getting are so natural and impressive. They are a much more durable and reliable thread and the forgiving thing is that they are dissolvable. It also takes so much less of my time, compared to what I was using before. Even though the longevity is not the same as with permanent threads, you do not have the related problems. In this day and age, my experience is that patients are much happier to have less downtime and repeated procedures than the other way around.”
