A new study by diabetes awareness website Diabetes Strong reveals that “How to get Ozempic” is the most googled question about the medication.
The top 40 most asked questions were discovered from the SEO website Ahrefs, with all questions then being sorted by category and the average monthly searches aggregated by topic. Ozempic is a branded medicine used to treat people with type 2 diabetes, with the active ingredient semaglutide. Semaglutide and liraglutide are prescription-only medications with specific restrictions on who can take them.
“How to get Ozempic” and similar are the most asked questions, with 48,800 average monthly searches. “How can I get Ozempic?” “How to get on Ozempic,” and “How to get Ozempic online” are other versions of the question that are highly popular on Google.
Second on the list are “How does Ozempic work?” and “What does Ozempic do?”, for a total of 41,000 average monthly searches.
Semaglutide aids the production of insulin in the pancreas when blood sugar is high and helps prevent the liver from making and releasing too much sugar. It also slows down food leaving your stomach, which has raised safety concerns for patients going under anaesthesia in a University of Texas Health study.
“How much is Ozempic?” is the third most asked question, with 40,300 average monthly searches. Wegovy is the brand of semaglutide available on the NHS and is also available privately, with prices being set at the discretion of the prescriber.
Further down on the list, with 40,000 average monthly searches, “What is Ozempic?” takes the fourth place.
“How to get Ozempic for weight loss” closes the top five most asked questions, with 30,600 average monthly searches.
Ozempic is studied and made for people with type 2 diabetes and is not FDA-approved for weight loss or chronic weight management. In the UK, Wegovy can be prescribed for weight loss in specific circumstances but should only be done within the eligibility criteria set by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Christel Oerum, chief executive of Diabetes Strong, commented on the findings: “Ozempic is one of the most talked about medications of the last few years, and it is only right for people across the country to have questions about it. Researching and making informed decisions are essential when starting a new treatment.
“However, even if you think that this medication might be for you, it is important to consult your doctor, who will be able to direct you towards the most suitable therapy for your physical and mental conditions to avoid any type of future complications and discomfort.”
