Aesthetic nurse devises innovative procedure to help patients with cleft lips
Luisa Scott, aesthetic nurse and founder of Newcastle Skin Clinic, has unveiled a new procedure to help treat cleft lip.
She will be offering it free of charge to help patients, with the treatment already being cited as ‘groundbreaking’ and ‘lifechanging’.
The procedure involves injecting the filler into the lip in small amounts, using a very fine needle. The filler then integrates with the surrounding tissue and attracts water, which helps to create volume and smooth out the lip. The results are usually immediate and can last for several months to a year, depending on the type of filler used.
“I am constantly inspired and interested by the patients who come to the clinic - it's a privilege to learn about their lives and journey,” comments Scott.
“Aesthetics can be life changing. Through my training as a surgical nurse and aesthetics practitioner, I can help patients regain confidence following congenital disabilities or injuries from an accident. Providing free treatments for people with a cleft lip - and seeing their confidence grow post-treatment is one of the highlights of my job.”
