BACN launches new Super Meeting Programme for 2015

The British Association of Cosmetic Nurses (BACN) has announced the dates, venues and programmes for its new Super Meetings Programme for 2015. Following detailed consultation with its members and strategic partners, the BACN piloted the concept of Regional Super Meetings in Scotland and the North with great success. The Super Meetings will be carried out in six central and easily accessible regions across the UK and will include:

  • A full day mini conference carrying CPD points
  • Latest technical demonstrations and presentations from leading industry figures
  • BACN updates

The meetings will be attended by BACN
CEO Paul Burgess and a board member and
will be free to BACN members or £50 for non-
members.
The launch of the Super Meetings will also coincide with the launch of new BACN Member Services, which are also now open to doctors and dentists as well as nurses. The London event took place on April 20 and was led by Constance Campion. It was supported by Allergan, Hamilton Fraser, Clarity Informatics and Church Pharmacy. Topics included Standards of Patient Consultation and Assessment (Allergan); Managing Risk and Complications (Hamilton Fraser); Comprehensive Skin Assessment and Modern Skin Analysis (Constance Campion); e-Prescribing (Church Pharmacy) and e-Portfolio’s (Clarity Informatics).

Paul Burgess, BACN CEO said, “The BACN has launched the new Super Meeting format as part of its growth strategy for 2015. This programme has been designed for the members by the members. BACN Strategic Partners who have preferred access to this programme love this format as it gives them the opportunity to speak to our members directly and also enables them to plan ahead for the whole of 2015.”

The meetings are not only open to nurses but to other medical aesthetic practitioners, including doctors and dentists, as the BACN has opened up its membership as part of its re-launch.

Frances Turner Traill, BACN board member and regional leader for Scotland and the North commented, “We tried the new Super Meeting format in Edinburgh and Newcastle with fantastic success. It was a great programme with over 35 nurses at each event plus some of our doctor friends.”

Dr Tahera Bhojani-Lynch, an ophthalmologist and cosmetic doctor who attended one of the pilot events commented, “This event was so beneficial for us. We got updated with all the latest news on the BACN, met our fellow practitioners for mentoring and networking, got CPD points and loved the treatment demonstration.”

Carol Williams, marketing director for Merz, one of the BACN’s new Strategic Partners, added,“This new format gives us the opportunity to showcase what are the latest developments in the sector in terms of both products and treatment techniques. The feedback was tremendous and it was fantastic to have so many practitioners in a room and in one place at the same time. We are all looking forward to participating in the rest of the programme in 2015.”

Upcoming meeting dates include: Wales/South West – May 8, 9am – 4.30pm, Bristol North West: Date: May 14, 9am – 4.30pm, Manchester Ireland –May 27, 9am-4.30pm, Belfast Agenda will be posted on the BACN Website – www.bacn.org.uk
