Banwell Clinic offers on site psychological support for patients
Renowned cosmetic surgery practice The Banwell Clinic is to offer patients on-site psychological support before and after their operation.
In the past, patients have needed to travel elsewhere but now they will be able to get psychological support when required at cosmetic surgeon Paul Banwell’s clinic within The McIndoe Centre, East Grinstead, part of charity Horder Healthcare.
Consulting psychologist and psychotherapist Gaylin Tudhope (pictured) will be on hand at the clinic to provide an integrative approach to care. The clinic has taken the pro-active decision to introduce the new service following last year’s independent cosmetic surgery review by NHS medical director Sir Bruce Keogh, which identified the need for better regulation, training and professional support in the cosmetic surgery industry.
Mr Banwell said, “We always strive to offer our patients first class medical and nursing care, but now, not only can we offer first class psychological support, it is actually provided in our own lovely clinic surroundings. We have wholeheartedly supported many of the Keogh recommendations and are delighted that Gaylin has joined our team.”
Tudhope added, “Our aim is to offer well-founded professional advice and counsel, ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care suited to their needs and correctly address their reasons for change.”
With the ever increasing pressure to have ‘the perfect designer body’, the rise of body dysmorphia as well as social pressure in young men and women, the aim at The McIndoe Centre is to significantly improve patients’ chances of getting a balanced and realistic idea of what can be achieved through surgery and what, ultimately, is right for them.
