BAS announces board appointment of Emma Davies

The British Association of Sclerotherapists (BAS) is delighted to welcome Emma Davies RGN NIP to the Board. Emma was one of the founders of the BAS back in 2002 and has been instrumental in promoting the interests of aesthetic nurses and raising standards of practice throughout the UK sclerotherapy and aesthetics industry.

Emma is trained and experienced in a wide range of aesthetic medical treatments, with a special interest in sclerotherapy and teaching. Currently Director of Horrington Clinic and Veincare Training in Somerset as well as Clinical Director of voluntary accreditation register Save Face UK, she has found time to participate actively on several committees and boards including the RCN (Royal College of Nursing), Aesthetic Nurses Forum Committee, the ACE (Aesthetic Complications Expert) Group and the BACN (British Association of Cosmetic Nurses), of which she was a founding member and Chair until 2014.

Emma believes passionately in the need for continuing education and accredited standards, and she has contributed to several seminal documents including The BACN Standards of Competency for Nurses in Aesthetic Medicine, accredited by The RCN and referenced internationally.

In 2012 her work was recognised by winning both the ‘Aesthetic Nurse of The Year’ and the ‘Services to Industry’ awards by Cosmetic News Magazine.

Mr Philip Coleridge Smith, Medical Director of The British Vein Institute and President of the BAS, believes Emma will make a valuable contribution to the Board. “Having worked with her in the past I am confident that Emma’s energy and enthusiasm will prove a great asset. We are looking to grow our membership base and further our aims of raising standards and providing a comprehensive sclerotherapy resource for members and the public, and Emma’s knowledge and experience will be highly relevant and bring benefits to our members.”

Emma says “My experience as a practitioner and microsclerotherapy trainer myself gives me unique insight into the challenges faced by many of our members, and I have lots of ideas that will benefit them and raise the profile of the Association.  After attending the excellent BAS 2018 sclerotherapy conference this May I am keen to play an active role in the next conference in Spring 2019, and I’m excited about being involved with the future direction of the BAS once again”
