BAS invites poster presentations at 2020 Sclerotherapy Conference

The British Association of Sclerotherapists (BAS) is inviting poster submissions for its 2020 Sclerotherapy Conference taking place on May 19.

For the first time in 2020 the BAS will display poster presentations alongside the oral presentations and sponsors’ exhibition at the annual conference. Abstract submission opens today (January 2, 2020) and entrants have until April 30 to submit the final posters.

“A poster presentation is an excellent way to share knowledge and experience in a relaxed and informal way,” says Hilary Furber, BAS Operations Manager and member of the organising committee. “Posters offer an opportunity to reflect on one’s learning and add to a CPD record by creating a ‘story board’; the exercise can raise an individual’s own profile and at the same time help others learn, by showcasing valuable research, knowledge, tips or experience in an easy-to-understand and fun-to-create format”.

The poster topic can be research based or demonstrate experience and information from individuals or teams. Posters will be peer-reviewed by the BAS Management Committee, and judged on relevance, clarity, originality, case presentation methodology and visual impact. There will be a prize for the best poster.

To encourage people who have perhaps not submitted a poster before, the BAS offers as much help as is needed. Tips and templates are available on the BAS website, and the organisers will proofread submissions and arrange the printing and display of the posters at the conference.

No public speaking will be required, although entrants are asked to stand next to their poster during the poster session to answer questions and perhaps solicit opinions on their work.

The BAS 2020 Sclerotherapy Conference will be held at Dorney Lake Conference Centre near Windsor, on Tuesday May 19. The early bird rate applies until April 5.
