British Association of Sclerotherapists holds Annual Conference at Dorney Lake, Eton
The British Association of Sclerotherapists (BAS) hosted its annual conference at the Dorney Lake Conference Centre in Eton. Among the speakers were Dr Jean-Francois Uhl, vascular surgeon and research director, Unesco chair of digital anatomy, Paris, who fascinated an audience of vascular surgeons and aesthetic doctors and nurses as he led them on a journey through the venous system using 3D images that were described as a “revelation”.
Consultant vascular surgeon Mr Sudip Ray spoke about a new procedure for closing the main vein in the leg that causes varicose veins and discussed what can be achieved with this new “super glue” treatment, while Dr Martyn King, aesthetic physician and chair of the Aesthetic Complications Expert Group, explored new technologies that help find elusive veins.
Mr Philip Coleridge Smith, consultant vascular surgeon and president of the BAS, spoke about sclerotherapy for ankles, feet, hands, arms, chest, and face. After lunch nurses Julie Halford and Claire Judge demonstrated their techniques and shared tips. In a parallel session Mr Coleridge Smith demonstrated foam sclerotherapy treatment using ultrasound.
Dr Martyn King also gave an overview of how he has marketed his growing and highly successful aesthetic clinic, Cosmedic Skin Clinic.
The event was sponsored by STD Pharmaceuticals, Credenhill and Daylong, Q Medical Technologies, BSN Medical and Hamilton Fraser Cosmetic Insurance.
