Cadier takes over as president of BAAPS
Michael Cadier has taken over as president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
The Salisbury-based consultant plastic surgeon has authored a number of papers on improving safety and enhancing outcome after cosmetic surgery, and his studies have been widely published internationally. In 1993 he was awarded the Hackett Prize for his research on the use of adrenaline in breast reduction surgery to reduce blood loss and complication rates and, in 2000, published the first report on the harmful effects of soyabean oil implants (trilucent implants),which were subsequently withdrawn and recommended for removal.
He has been on the BAAPS Council since 2008 and chairs the quality and clinical outcomes working group for the Cosmetic Surgery Interspeciality Committee (CSIC), a joint initiative of the Department of Health and the Royal College of Surgeons, which aims to become the basis of regulation in cosmetic surgery in the UK.
