Dr Catherine Fairris elected as new vice-president of BCAM

The British College of Aesthetic Medicine (BCAM) is building on last year’s 20thanniversary success and development, growing its professional team to 13 with the addition of a third new Board member and the appointment of Dr Catherine Fairris as vice-president and president-elect.
Dr Fairris, who is the trustee responsible for education and events, will work alongside BCAM president, Dr Uliana Gout, to increase public outreach, work with stakeholders on regulation issues and expand events such as the annual conference and members’ educational brunch sessions.
She said, “I feel incredibly privileged to have been given the opportunity to take on this role. I look forward to working with the rest of the Board in this new capacity to accomplish more great things for BCAM, its members and the aesthetic medicine community as a whole.”
The BCAM Board has also been further strengthened by the addition of Dr Rupert Critchley, who has a keen interest in education, bringing the total number of trustees to eight.
Dr Critchley said: “It's an absolute privilege to be selected as a trustee for BCAM. I am passionate about creating change in the UK aesthetics sector and I believe in improving safety standards and regulations, standardising training pathways and educating responsible injectors to help this industry evolve. I look forward to joining BCAM on this exciting and important journey."
Dr Gout, who was re-appointed President in November, said: “2021 was a phenomenal year for BCAM with so many incredible initiatives coming to fruition so we wanted to build on the success. BCAM has assembled a fantastic team to progress its work, leading with fact not opinion, supporting its members and educating the public. Congratulations to Dr Fairris for being voted in as Vice President, I look forward to working together, and we welcome Dr Critchley whose expertise and enthusiasm will be a great asset to the College.”
Dr Paul Myers, who has been a BCAM trustee for many years, has stepped down to take on the role of chair of the College’s Revalidation and Appraisal Committee.
