Exclusive sclerotherapy videos to launch at BAS UK conference
The British Association of Sclerotherapists (BAS) will hold its annual meeting on May 18 at the iconic Dorney Lake Conference Centre in Windsor.
The event will be the launch pad for a series of videos showing footage of BAS board members treating leg veins using foam and microsclerotherapy.
Dorney Lake Conference Centre is a set between the Thames and Dorney Lake, where the 2012 Olympic rowing events were held. Nestled amid scenic parkland just outside Windsor, Dorney Lake is a world class sporting and events venue with an inspiring Olympic Heritage.
The meeting will be fully CPD Accredited, and certificates provided. All are welcome, and BAS and BACN members will enjoy discounted fees.
Confirmed speakers include Consultant Vascular Surgeon Mr Philip Coleridge Smith and Associate Specialist in Vascular Surgery Dr Stephen Tristram.
The BAS Board will host an informal dinner on 17th May, the night before the meeting; a great opportunity to meet and get to know industry peers.
The British Association of Sclerotherapists is a not-for-profit organisation formed in 2002, with the aim of raising and maintaining standards of responsible evidence-based practice. Although 50% of the population suffer from unsightly thread veins there is no treatment available on the NHS. GPs have little knowledge of this treatment and cannot refer patients with any confidence because of the lack of established standards.
BAS Members include vascular surgeons, physicians and nurses, and aesthetic doctors and nurses, represented and supported by the BAS Board, a body of experts whose role is to establish consensus on best practice and inform and educate members and the public. Conferences are held every 1 – 2 years, as well as regional workshops from time to time. The informative website offers advice for patients and practitioners.
Dr Stephen Tristram, chairman of the BAS, says “We’re excited about meeting at this magnificent lakeside setting, chosen not only for its terrific ambience but because it offers a convenient location for air, road and rail travellers. A perfect setting for a day focused on CPD/CME. As well as an exciting line-up of speakers and the live treatment demonstrations that have proved so popular in the past, we’ll be launching a series of new sclerotherapy videos produced especially for this meeting, showing exclusive footage of BAS board members treating leg veins - large, medium, and small - using foam and microsclerotherapy.”
