HEE publishes “Review of Qualifications Required for Delivery of Non-Surgical Cosmetic Interventions”
Health Education England (HEE) has published Phase 1 of its report into training and education for the non-surgical sector.
HEE was mandated to work with regulators, royal colleges and other stakeholders to conduct the review of the qualifications required for non-surgical cosmetic interventions by the Department of Health back in October 2013.
Entitled “Review of Qualifications Required for Delivery of Non-Surgical Cosmetic Interventions”, the report outlines the key outcomes of the programme from October 2013 to May 2014, including a draft framework built around five treatment modalities: botulinum toxin; dermal fillers; chemical peels and skin rejuvenation treatments; laser, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Light Emitting Diode (LED) treatments and hair restoration surgery as well as a review of qualifications for prescribing. It was endorsed by the Department of Health (DH) Advisory Board for cosmetic interventions at its meeting on June 17 and published in September.
