High Court orders Mumsnet to reveal identities of members who criticised plastic surgeon on forum

UK parenting website Mumsnet has been ordered by a court to give up the identities and contents of private messages of two of its users who criticised London-based plastic surgeon Dr Jesper Sorensen on the site.

Dr Sorensen, who is the founder of the Sorensen Clinic in Kensington, West London, issued a High Court claim against the website, seeking information about the identities of users “Skohl” and “Blackfairy7” after reading comments they had posted about him on the forum. They had commented on a thread entitled “fat transfer for undereye hollows/tear troughs?” where people asked about the surgery and whether they had any information about Dr Sorensen’s work. Some of the posts have since been deleted.

Mumsnet’s CEO Justine Roberts told the Sunday Times: “Initially we refused to hand over the information and said we would only comply if we were required to do so by a court order.”
