Karen Betts launches permanent make-up PRO TIPS

Karen Betts, managing director of Nouveau Beauty Group, has announced that she will host two PRO-TIPS education days this year for all permanent cosmetic artists.

Held on July 6 in Leeds and August 3 in London, the programme will cover colour theory and pigmentation. Having created an online forum in 2013 for students at the Nouveau training academy, Betts noticed a lack of understanding about colour and a fear of taking on correctional work.

Betts said, “Even some of my most competent artists were lacking confidence in these areas yet here I was travelling [the world] teaching others how to achieve greater stability, higher definition and how colour will effect different skin types and tones and so my PRO-TIPS days were born.”

With artists earning up to £700 per treatment, the demand for artists in the permanent cosmetic industry has risen in recent years, as more people seek out the procedure to restore facial features lost or altered as a result of accident or illness.

Betts added, “When I was appointed the official consultant and medical tattooing artist for ‘The Katie Piper Foundation’ in 2012, I was overwhelmed that my passion which I had turned into my dream career would help so many people rebuild their confidence and restore their identity, to be able to teach this skill to others so they too can help people is priceless.”

With more than 20 years’ experience in Permanent Cosmetics, Betts was a guest speaker at eight international conferences last year and her training academy trained 130 people over the course of 11 months. She hopes to use her experience to turn "good artists into elite artists".

Betts continued, “As a permanent cosmetic artist you are leaving your own signature on someone’s face and I want to help ensure that all my fellow permanent cosmetics artist have the skill and confidence to develop a signature that identifies them as an artist and that the customer exhibits in public with pride.”

There are 120 places available for each event and place cost from £99.
