London Medical Education Academy holds first dissection training course in conjunction with BACN

The London Medical Education Academy (LMEDAC) hosted its first “dissect and inject” anatomy training course in conjunction with the British Association of Cosmetic Nurses (BACN).

The first aesthetics-specific course was led by plastic surgeon Mr Taimur Shaoib and was attended by members of the BACN.

BACN chair Sharon Bennett commented, “Myself and the BACN were approached by LMEDAC at the beginning of the year, and we discussed the lack of easily accessible, and affordable, anatomy and dissection training. We felt that it was exceptionally important that those undertaking any aesthetic procedure should have easy access to dissection, so that they understand what is going on under the skin.

“LMEDAC deliver dissection courses for all specialities across the NHS, outside of aesthetics, so have access to the anatomists and the donated cadavers; therefore, all that was needed was to gear the course content more towards aesthetic medicine and practice.”

LMEDAC was founded by entrepreneur Angela Spang who realised there was a greater need for hands-on cadaver training for medical professionals. The company is now expanding its current NHS-led operation by moving into the aesthetics sector, aided by Sue Thomson, founder of Cobalt-Panacea.
