MATA Training Academy launches to put patients first

The Medical and Aesthetic Training Academy (MATA) held its official launch in London this month. MATA is a medical and aesthetic training centre for healthcare professionals where the emphasis is on patient safety and the provision of training courses of an exceptionally high standard.

The launch event featured an interactive panel debate to discuss whether the cosmetic interventions industry is any safer two years on from the Keogh review. The panel included Mr Faz Zavahir (founder and director of both MATA Courses and Juvea Aesthetics in Harley Street); Mr Apul Parikh (plastic surgeon and lead trainer for MATA); Lauren Sibley (aesthetic practitioner and clinic manager) and Stan Batchelor (head of radiation and laser safety at Guys & St Thomas Hospital). The debate was hosted by founder of Safety in Beauty, Antonia Mariconda.

As well as the live debate, the press event included an afternoon tea and was followed by a champagne reception with a live human art exhibition of body painted models, a medically-themed photo booth, music entertainment from a DJ and Saxophone player and medically-themed canapes and cocktails in test tubes. MATA, which is situated in London's Harley Street, will provide medical and aesthetic training in botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, chemical peels and laser and light treatments for those starting out in the industry.
