Representatives from aesthetic clinics, including myself, The Premier Lasers Group, Elolemos clinic, Face the Future and Wimpole Aesthetics were invited to travel to Barcelona with Mesoestetic’s UK distributor to visit the manufacturer’s factory and find out more about the company behind their range of professional skin treatment solutions, skincare, peels, devices and mesotherapy products.
The one day trip, which was arranged by the directors of Mesoestetic UK, Adam and Sandra Birtwistle to coincide with the recent launch of the brand’s new multi-technology device, Genesis.
After arriving in Spain the group spent an evening at leisure enjoying the hot weather in Barcelona, the following morning the group was taken straight to Mesoestetic Pharma Group’s head office just outside of Barcelona to get an insight into the inner workings of the company. As well as being the hub for all the companies R&D and clinical research, the building houses a state-of-the-art 8,500 square metre manufacturing facility.
As mesoestetic is a pharmaceutical company the products are developed with the highest intensity of active ingredients enabling them to produce treatment products only for use by doctors as well as safe and effective treatments for use by aesthetic practitioners, while maintaining the standards of production throughout. The homecare products are produced to the same exacting standards as the medical treatment products ensuring the end user is assured of the quality and effectiveness of the products within. The plant follows rigorous safety standards when manufacturing its injectable and topical products. The group was shown products being made and packaged and led through to its quality control and testing labs as well as its clinical R&D labs where the products are developed and formulations are tested on human cells such as adipose and fibroblast cells, to measure their efficacy without the need to test on animals. All products are thoroughly tested on a huge amount of willing volunteers from the local area.
After being shown round by Carles Font, Export Manager and the son of founder Joan Carles Font, who started developing mesotherapy products 30 years ago after doctors were increasingly coming into his pharmacy asking him to create cocktails of ingredients for them, the group was then introduced to the new Genesis machine by international trainer Oksana.

There was also time to enjoy a long Spanish lunch by the beach. Dr Sotirios Foutsizoglou "was very impressed by the Mesoestetic facilities in Barcelona and their high standards.
