New CQC ratings for cosmetic surgery to come into force in November
The Department of Health has issued a 33-page report following a consultation relating to the CQC expanding its ratings to include independent healthcare providers, including cosmetic surgery providers.
In the report, published on September 12, it stated that new regulation would come into force from November 2017, which will impose a duty on the CQC to conduct performance assessment reviews for any other provider in the identified sectors who carry out specific regulated activities, and assign a rating for the quality and safety of the service provided.
The regulations will affect cosmetic surgery services where the procedure requires intravenous sedation, general anaesthesia or the insertion of an implant.
