OFAA training academy anatomy course takes place in London
Oculoplastic surgeon and founder of the OFAA Training Academy, Mrs Sabrina Shah-Desai, ran a course specialising in the atomical basis of restoration and rejuvenation of the male and female facial profile using non–surgical injectable filler treatments.
Delegates gained an understanding of facial anatomical layers using fresh cadavers and prosections and had the opportunity to practice anatomical surface marking on fresh frozen cadavers, with an emphasis on avoiding critical neurovascular anatomy in upper, mid and lower face.
The “wet-lab” covered basic, intermediate and advanced safe reproducible filler injection techniques for the most clinically relevant facial areas, addressing how to improve the facial profile taking into account 3-Dimensional facial evaluation, with specific attention to the difference in restoring angles of the facial profile in men and women, to improve the forehead, nose, chin and jawline, using dfferent types of fillers.
They also learnt how to avoid complications from poor technique and inappropriate patient selection as well as improve assessment and deliver safe outcomes. Cadaver-based skills learning courses are recognised as one of the best ways to impart training before attempting these on a live patient.
