Out and about: BCAM Annual Conference, Church House Conference Centre, London

Dr Ruth Harker, conference director, welcomed delegates to The British College of Aesthetic Medicine Annual Conference at the Church House Conference Centre in London this autumn.

The conference lived up to its promise to be a great event full of lively discussions, interesting presentations by surgeons, doctors and dentists at the forefront of their field and live demonstrations by skilled, experienced practitioners covering every aspect of aesthetic medicine, which of course includes complications.

Dr Paul Charlson, BCAM’s president, said “We aim to have an interesting, relevant evidence-based event. This [was] reflected in the speakers and the topics this year.”

The line-up included, Dr Patrick Treacy on complications with fillers and Botox, Dr James Britton on dermatological infections, Mr Rajiv Grover, Dr Tapan Patel, Dr Kuldeep Minocha, Dr Aamer Khan, Mr Nigel Mercer, FSSA president, Mrs Sabrina Shah Desai, Dr Zack Ally, Dr Nestor Demosthenous, Dr Victoria Manning, Dr Miguel Montero, Dr Emma Ravichandran, Dr Philip Coleridge-Smith, Dr Hilary Jones, and Dr Gabriel Siquier.

The Business and Clinical Forum Agenda included subjects such as: PR – How it can help us and our clinics, give your lawyer the best chance to defend you, how to structure a successful organisation, CQC – registerable procedures, GMC Involvement in aesthetics, Litigation in aesthetics, and separating anxiety from body dysmorphic disorder.

The event also hosted the BCAM annual general meeting for full members. A drinks and canapés reception, sponsored by Enhance Insurance, was held to close the event.

Conference director Dr Ruth Harker said, “A big thank you to all the speakers, demonstrators, delegates, exhibitors, sponsors and all who attended the BCAM Conference. You all made it a fantastic, memorable occasion. “

The 2019 conference will take place on Saturday, September 21, and will be held at the Church House Conference Centre for the fifth year running.
