Out and About: Mesoestetic site visit, Barcelona, Spain

Aesthetic Medicine editor Vicky Eldridge joined Esther Fieldgrass and the EF Medispa team on a visit to Mesoestetic’s headquarters in Spain to visit the manufacturer’s facilities and find out more about its full range of mesotherapy products, supplements, skincare and devices. The trip was organised by UK distributors Adam and Sandra Birtwistle from Wellness Trading.
After arriving in Spain the group was taken for dinner at the stylish Restaurante Mirabé with panoramic views over the city. The next morning it was off to visit Mesoestetic’s impressive offices just outside of Barcelona to get an insight into the inner workings of the company, how it makes its products and some exciting new launches. As well as being the hub for the company’s R&D and clinical research, the building houses a state-of-the-art 8,500sq ft manufacturing facility which the group was given an extensive tour of by the company’s commercial director Patricia Szalak.
As the majority of Mesoestetic’s products are sold to doctors, the plant follows rigorous safety standards when manufacturing its injectable and topical products. The group was shown products being made and packaged and led through to its quality control and testing labs, as well as visiting the clinical and R&D labs where the products are developed and tested on human cells such as adipose and fibroblast cells in vitro to measure their efficacy without testing on animals.
The group was then introduced to some of the newest products in the Mesoestetic portfolio by international trainer Cristina Casaldáliga including the newly launched Mesoprotech range of SPFs (see this month’s dossier), Cosmelan packs, Aox Ferulic and some new additions to the Bodyshock range. She also gave a live demonstration of the m.pen pro and c.prof ampoules.
The trip ended with a late lunch at the Casanova Beach Club and a chance to take in some fresh sea air while enjoying delicious Spanish cuisine.
