Over 50s increasingly turning to cosmetic surgery says SunLife study
A quarter of a million Brits aged 50 or over have had cosmetic surgery, according to the SunLife Big 50 study.
The study, which reveals attitudes towards life and lifestyles change when turning 50, reported that a large percentage of people feel under pressure to look good.
Around 231,000 people said they had opted for a cosmetic surgical or aesthetic procedure after hitting the big 5-0.
The study was commissioned to launch SunLife’s Welcome to Life After 50 campaign and found that most respondents had changed their lifestyle since turning 50 by quitting smoking, eating more healthily and exercising more frequently. One fifth said they had cut down on drinking.
According to the ONS there were 23, 072,619 people aged 50 and over in the UK in 2015. One per cent of this number is 230,726.
