Professional Non-Surgical Aesthetic Practice course to start at Northumbria University
Northumbria University, Newcastle, will be launching a three-year Professional Non-Surgical Aesthetic Practice course this September which will give delegates an MSc qualification.
The course is designed for doctors, nurses and dentists who are undertaking non-surgical aesthetic treatments.
A number of top aesthetic practitioners were invited to start the course early (in May 2016) so that they could become mentors for students beginning in September 2016.
Mentors will not only be able to use their experience and knowledge to give feedback to the university about the course syllabus but will also be welcoming students into their clinics, to share their knowledge and skills and supervise them carrying out dermal filler and botulinum toxin treatments. As well as the practice-based mentoring, students will also be assessed for competency throughout the course.
Offered part-time, the programme is delivered through a blend of online and face-to-face teaching to fit around people’s work schedules.
Although the course is run over three years to achieve a masters’ degree level (MSc), students will receive a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) after year one and a Postgraduate Diploma after year two. It has been designed in keeping with Health Education England (HEE) guidelines.
Face Cosmetic Training’s clinical director Jacqueline Naeini, who is one of the 25 mentors on the course, commented, “It was a real honor to be asked to be a mentor on this course. As a trainer myself I know the importance of robust and comprehensive training in the field of aesthetics. With the lack of regulation in our sector the only way to raise standards and safeguard patients is for practitioners to complete standardised and accredited training. I am delighted that Northumbria Univeristy is leading the way with this MSc and am enjoying undertaking the course myself as well.”
