Revalidation for nurses will be compulsory from April 2016
As of April 1 all nurses and midwives in the UK will have to revalidate every three years to maintain their registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
If nurses do not register every three years, their registration will lapse and they will no longer be permitted to work.
The British Association of Cosmetic Nurses (BACN) has been a major partner with the NMC in the piloting of revalidation processes with particular regard to issues relating to how this needs to work for many of its members who do not work in traditional NHS structures.
The group has set up a Revalidation Mentor Register as they believe that the best people to carry out these revalidation roles for BACN members are BACN members as they understand the aesthetics industry and are qualified nurses. The voluntary register will provide a vital service to BACN members and nurses who are full paying members of the BACN are being asked to volunteer to join the register so they can be contacted by other members seeking a revalidation mentor.
