The Botox Bust, BBC Three
Save Face contibute to BBC Three Programme which exposed rogue beauticians providing illegal botox treatments
For the past several months, Save Face have been working alongside the BBC Three production team behind 'Ellie Undercover: The Botox Bust', providing information, evidence and advice that led the filming of the programme.
It shines a light on some of the practitioners that we have been investigating and gives an insight into how the rules that are put in place to protect patients are being broken and manipulated by unscrupulous practitioners for financial gain.
In the programme, 24-year-old journalist Ellie Flynn poses as a client, speaking to various beauticians who all offer her Botox - some arrange for her to speak to a prescriber on the phone.
But by law, the person prescribing Botox should not only be a doctor, nurse, dentist or prescribing pharmacist, the guidelines by the General Medical Council (GMC) also state that they should meet you face to face - Skype doesn't count. Only when the prescriber is happy should the Botox be administered.
Some also tell Ellie that they are registered nurses, but when she checks the medical register she can't find any evidence to back up the women's claims.
