The UK cosmetics market third largest in Europe, at €11.1 billion

The UK cosmetics market is the third largest in Europe, at €11.1 billion and consumers spend an average of €132 per year on beauty and self-care products, according to Cosmetics Europe.
The report ‘Socio-economic contribution of the European Cosmetics Industry 2018’ showed that Germany and France make up 50% of all global beauty exports within Europe; with €13.6bn and €11.3bn contributed respectively. The UK ranked third, with €11.1bn, Italy €10.1bn and Spain €6.8bn. Other European countries contributed €24.7bn. With the combined EU countries firmly ranked top of the global cosmetics market at just shy of €80 billion.
The beauty and personal care market is also benefitting from the growth of online marketplaces and e-commerce and creates more than two million jobs across Europe, with over 165,700 people employed in the manufacturing of cosmetics products.
