Using smoke evacuation devices in clinic to remove plume and aerosol

With the re-opening of many clinics after lockdown not being that far away, returning aesthetic practitioners and beauty therapists are potentially putting themselves and their patients at an increased risk of infection when carrying out treatments that create plume, fumes and aerosol generated from certain aesthetic procedures.
What is plume?
Plume is smoke-like particles released from the skin during such treatment like Laser and IPL. Laser plume is especially known to contain aerosol which can in turn increase the risk of viruses and bacteria spreading so with this in mind the BMLA (British Medical Laser Association) has stated that high-efficiency smoke evacuation systems should be used to reduce plume generated during laser treatment.
European and UK Standards for such filtration devices come under the EN1822-1 standard, that classifies HEPA (high-efficiency particulate absorbing) filters to be used, capturing large and small particles including virus and bacteria.
The HE-One plume evacuator uses a 4 filter HEPA system that provides 99.97% efficiency when carrying out any plume related treatments thus providing Medical Aesthetic Practitioners and Patients alike the confidence they are in safe hands.
Also, for extra safety we advise using a clear acrylic hood that is provided with every, HE-One increasing the reduction of plume and aerosol that is generated by laser procedures entering the surrounding space. Along with both patient and practitioner general hygiene and relevant PPE this will keep both practitioner and patient as safe as can be.
