Covid-19: Allergan International Foundation donates to feed UK frontline workers

Allergan’s charity foundation arm has donated $20,000 (approx. £16,000) to UK charity Lenderhand

The Allergan International Foundation Donation is part of a $2 million (approx. £1.6m) global effort to support local communities in response to the covid-19 pandemic.

Lenderhand helps people in Essex by covering the cost of essential items they couldn’t otherwise afford during difficult times.

The charity has been supplying meals daily to front-line NHS staff at hospitals including Royal Free, Charing Cross, King George, Queen’s Hospital and Great Ormond Street.

It is estimated that with Allergan’s donation, Lenderhand will be able to provide at least 400 meals a day to the NHS for the next month.

Lois Heller, co-founder of Lenderhand, commented, “Thank you to Allergan for their great generosity, we at Lenderhand greatly appreciate your donation. We are delighted with this donation as it will allow the charity to continue to fund the NHS with food and supplies that they desperately need.”

The Allergan Foundation has also made donations to charities in countries where many Allergan employees live and work, including Australia, Italy, Spain, Germany and Brazil.

Brent Saunders, chairman of The Allergan Foundation, said: “The goal of these grants is to put much needed financial help in the hands of organisations who support vulnerable people in need of food, housing, healthcare and mental health services as quickly as possible as communities continue to manage the impact of covid-19.”

“We are humbled by the care these front-line organisations provide to people in local communities and are proud to add them to the many organizations we support who are making a difference in the health and wellbeing of our communities during this time.”
