Skin health and aesthetics clinic group Élan Laser Clinics has been awarded an NHS contract to provide NHS-funded epilation services to individuals before gender reassignment surgery, and as referred by a Gender Dysphoria Clinic.

The clinic group, which has outposts in the UK and Australia, can offer epilation before phalloplasty and vaginoplasty surgery, as well as facial hair removal before treatment.

The services are available at all clinics in the company’s portfolio, including in London, Leeds, Liverpool, Beaconsfield, and Hale Barns. Treatment is based on the service specification and arrangements set by the programme board for Gender Dysphoria Services.

Additionally, all practitioners within the group have received gender dysphoria training to ensure that patients are treated with the utmost respect, and that correct terminology and pronouns are used at all times, with the aim of ensuring that patients have the very best experience possible as they navigate their personal journey.

“The Élan Laser Clinics Group team is extremely proud to have been awarded an NHS contract to provide epilation services to individuals prior to gender reassignment surgery and as referred by a Gender Dysphoria Clinic,” commented the director of aesthetic services at Élan Laser Clinics Group, Lisa Mason Paynor. “As a group, we are committed to being a leading light in clinic safety and service standards in the industry, as well as providing a safe and inclusive environment for our patients to be unapologetically themselves, and for them to feel comfortable, safe, and supported on their individual journeys. We encourage our industry colleagues to embrace the transgender community and look at ways in which they can be actively and positively supported in clinic.”
