GC Aesthetics introduces new breast implant warranty
Silicone implant producer GC Aesthetics has announced a new lifetime warranty for its patients and practitioners.
In addition to providing free-of-charge implant replacements in the event of rupture or (Baker grade III/IV) post-implantation surgery capsular contracture, the new Comfort Plus warranty also now provides free, automatic and retrospective cover for all cases of breast implant associated-anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). This includes late seroma (the swelling which can occur after breast implant surgery).
The cover also provides reimbursement of up to $3,000 (approx. £2,400) towards to cost of necessary medical costs to scan and remove the breast implant(s) and associated scar tissue to affected patients.
This cover is valid for products implanted since 1 January 2009.
The warranty has been launched to reassure patients and surgeons about breast implant associated-anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). During the last 10 years, there have been no cases of BIA-ALCL with GC's smooth breast implants and a rate of less than 0.0007% with the textured breast implants.
