A new bio-stimulating filler for the body has launched in the UK
A first-of-its-kind bio-stimulating dermal filler for the body has launched in the UK. Distributed by Sinclair Pharma, CE-marked Lanluma is specifically formulated to reshape and contour large areas of the body without the need for surgery.
Indicated for the upper arms, hips, thighs, décolletage and buttocks, the product can also be used to reduce signs of cellulite and wrinkles, and to add volume to the face to correct age-related tissue and bone loss.
Lanluma is a PLLA (Poly-l-lactic acid) filler and works by inducing collagenasis and fibroblast proliferation by stimulating the body’s inflammatory response, helping to restore the skin’s inner structure and shape. As the injected filler is absorbed by the body, results aren’t instant but rather appear over time – arguably giving more realistic, convincing results in the long run.
KEY PRODUCT POINTS:
- Reconstituted from a sterile dry powder by the addition of sterile water
- Can be used 10 minutes after dilution
- Treatments can be performed by aesthetic doctors, plastic surgeons and general practitioners
- Patient profile is age 20-50, male or female
- Results last more than two years
- Two products available – Lanluma V for face and hands, Lanluma X for the body
- Two to four initial treatments required one month apart
- Requires patients’ compliance and discipline to massage the treated areas post treatment.
Lanluma was first launched overseas, with specialist practitioners trialling the product on their patients. Plastic surgeon Dr Pierre Nicolau who practises in Spain commented: “Lanluma is a top quality PLLA product, and convenient to work with. Being able to go straight into the treatment following a consultation is well appreciated by patients when compared to other PLLA fillers.”
Meanwhile, plastic surgery specialist Dr Francesca De Angelis in Italy said: “My patients are loving the results – long lasting and so many smiles and ‘thank you’s’. My team are loving the different size options and the quick prep time. The quality and care really makes Lanluma stand out.”
In the UK, Dr Sabika Karim is the first aesthetic doctor to offer the new filler. Dr Karim wanted to introduce Lanluma at her new clinic Skin Medical in Northwood, London to offer patients a safer alternative to invasive fat-transfer surgery, specifically on the buttocks, known as a BBL or Brazilian booty lift.
Since noticing an increasing rise in demand for body contouring and a focus on the buttocks, Dr Karim says the stepwise approach of Lanluma’s protocol allows her to make sure her patients are continually happy with their treatment. As the gradual results are contingent on the results from the previous session, patients can be involved in deciding when the final results have been achieved.
“We’re delighted to be the first clinic in the UK to offer the Lanluma body-contouring treatment and I look forward to training and sharing this with other aesthetic doctors across the country. Lanluma is ideal for patients that are looking for a non-surgical treatment that will give them long-lasting, natural results to help their confidence skyrocket which is at the heart of everything we do at Skin Medical. I am honoured to be the first aesthetic doctor to give my UK patients the opportunity to try this brand-new treatment,” commented Dr Karim.
She added: “With Lanluma we are able to offer our patients a much safer alternative to bottom-lift surgery, especially if what they want is a natural look or maybe just shaping. Lanluma can give your practice an extra dimension in body treatments, and unlike investing in capital equipment, there is no up-front investment, therefore there is no real barrier to entry, so it’s really a no-brainer”.
Healthcare practitioners can access a recording of the official Lanluma launch presentation by a number of the European Lanluma faculty members on the HCP page of the new product website – lanluma.com. The site also features information about training to treat with Lanluma.
