Laser hair removal demand highest in London and Birmingham

London and Birmingham were the top cities looking for laser hair removal treatments in 2015, according to clinic chain sk:n.

Men and women in these areas were undergoing permanent hair reduction treatments more than anywhere else in the country, with legs the most popular area treated, followed by bikini, arms then underarms, the company's research found.

The top 10 cities looking for laser hair removal treatments last year were:

2  Birmingham

3  Leicester

4  Glasgow

5  Newcastle

6  Manchester

7  Leeds

8  Middlesbrough

9  Edinburgh

10  Liverpool.

The number of male clients aged between 18–25 undergoing laser hair removal at sk:n's clinics also increased by 122% year on year, with more than 10,000 treatments undertaken in 2015.

“Compared to the traditional means of removing unwanted hair such as shaving or waxing…laser hair removal is an effective, fuss-free solution which more and more people are turning to – most notably in London and Birmingham,” said a spokesperson for Sk:n.

The UK hair removal industry is expected to be worth £2.19bn by 2019, according to the International Master Course of Ageing Skin (IMCAS).
