Out and about: Professor Bob Khanna cadaver workshop

Professor Bob Khanna recently held a cadaver workshop, “The Ultimate Thread Lifting Cadaver Course”, at Kings College in London.  During a full day of theoretical lectures and practical hands-on sessions delegates learned about three dimensional facial anatomies, followed by the principles of thread lifting using different methodologies.

After showcasing the detailed theory of three treatment modalities including Aptos, which is used in surgical and non-surgical procedures, PDO and Silhouette Soft which are used exclusively non-surgically, came the practical element of the course exploring the use of each of the procedures on fresh cadaver heads.  The attending doctors carried out detailed dissections from skin to bone revealing all five anatomical planes.  After dissection they were shown how to place the threads from the different systems and could immediately appreciate the effect they could bring about using threads.

The course was a chance for delegates to learn more about threads before committing to performing the treatment on patients.

One of the attendees was Dr Nina Bal, a multi-award winning facial aesthetics doctor based in London, commented “The cadaver dissecting session helped me to clearly understand on which anatomical tissue plane the threads are inserted and placed and it really simulated treating the patient without any risks, so it was a great opportunity to experiment and practice the techniques that I couldn’t have done in any other situations.”

Whilst Dr Maria Kocis reported that “To be able to see three different thread lifting systems, try them practically on fresh cadaver heads and dissect back was an unforgettable experience”

Professor Bob Khanna, who is globally known for his expertise in facial aesthetics, stated that “It is essential that all clinicians carrying out any form of facial aesthetic procedures be given comprehensive training and knowledge in 3-D anatomy alongside detailed knowledge on techniques and concepts. This is especially important when it comes to thread lifting. In this way clinicians will be more responsible and be able to provide predictable outcomes with lower incidences of complications.”

He added “Teaching my unique thread lift cadaver masterclass, featuring three global systems was a phenomenal day”.
