The Cadogan Clinic celebrates 20 years of innovation in cosmetic surgery and dermatology

The Cadogan Clinic proudly marks its 20th anniversary as a leading global centre for cosmetic surgery and dermatology.

Founded in 2004 by world-renowned plastic surgeon Mr Bryan Mayou and dermatologist Dr Susan Mayou, the clinic was the first of its kind in the UK, a purpose-built specialist aesthetic day case hospital. Today, it holds the position as the standard bearer for all the clinics that have followed.

Located in Sloane Street, home of all of London’s luxury brands, it is the largest facility of its type in the UK, housing over 115 industry-leading consultants and conducting over 30,000 appointments each year. It was awarded an “Outstanding” rating for Leadership by the CQC in its 2023 inspection and hosts an International Faculty, keeping it at the forefront of global trends in cosmetic medicine.

In 2024, the Cadogan Clinic earned two prestigious awards: Best Clinic London at the Aesthetics Awards and Aesthetic Clinic of the Year at the Aesthetic Medicine Awards, reinforcing the Clinic’s status as a leading institution in its industry.

20 years of progress and change

The Cadogan Clinic's journey mirrors the significant change and progress in the cosmetic surgery industry over the last two decades.

When it first opened its doors in Chelsea, it introduced a new concept: a luxury, discreet, day-case hospital catering to patients seeking both the very best aesthetic results in a luxury and private environment.

Secret entrances and a boutique neighbourhood environment set a new standard for patient confidentiality and care, catering for Hollywood stars and the local Chelsea clientele.  This luxury approach has been adopted throughout the industry.

In the last 20 years, The Cadogan Clinic has also participated in and driven forward several key treatment innovations:

Turning back time- facial rejuvenation:

The Cadogan Clinic continues at the forefront of the trend of rapid growth in facial rejuvenation treatments, expanding its offering to showcase a full spectrum of facial surgeries tailored to reverse the visible signs of ageing. The traditional facelift offering, globally and at Cadogan, has been extended to micro and mini facelifts to deep plane facelifts, chin liposuction, lip lifts and buccal fat removal as well as the gold-standard, pioneered at the Cadogan amongst other centres of international excellence, stem-cell face lifts.

The rise of non-surgical treatments:

Over the last 20 years, non-surgical treatments have experienced exponential growth internationally, with over 19 million non-surgical treatments being delivered worldwide in 2023. Co-founder Dr Susan Mayou was an early advocate for training UK dermatologists in procedures like Botox and dermal fillers, which are now staples in the aesthetic field. In addition, novel therapies such as polynucleotides, exosomes and advanced laser and ultrasound techniques are shaping the future of skin health and cosmetic enhancements.

Ongoing impact of liposuction and body contouring:

Liposuction, first performed in the UK by Mr Mayou over 40 years ago, and body contouring treatments, remain transformative forces in the industry. With over 2.2 million cases performed internationally in 2023, liposuction and body contouring procedures play a critical role in a variety of procedures, from Abdominoplasty to Brazilian Butt Lifts. The Cadogan Clinic leads in this space, incorporating regenerative medicine techniques such as fat transfer and stem cell enrichment to enhance outcomes.

Seeking the perfect profile:

Rhinoplasty has also seen a marked increase, with the clinic up 33% in 2023, making it one of the most sought-after procedures at the Clinic. This reflects an ongoing trend toward refinement and profile perfection, with rhinoplasty becoming a key focus in the clinic’s roster of services.

Looking ahead:

As the Cadogan Clinic celebrates its 20th anniversary, it remains committed to pioneering advancements in cosmetic surgery and dermatology, shaping the future of aesthetic medicine both in the UK and internationally. Dedicated to innovation, patient care and maintaining the highest standards of excellence, the clinic continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in the industry. Looking ahead, the Cadogan Clinic remains focused on expanding its expertise and global influence, ensuring that patients receive more cutting-edge treatments for many more decades to come.
