Aesthetic Medicine is thrilled to be collaborating with the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery for its 7th annual conference, which will take place on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 at Aesthetic Medicine London, Olympia London.
The BAHRS was founded in 1996 by 12 like-minded surgeons doing hair transplant surgery in the UK. It is a non-profit group of professionals working in the British Isles who are interested in hair loss, hair restoration, including hair transplant surgery, hair research and education, and hair simulation by scalp micropigmentation.
BAHRS has scheduled a Saturday event which covers the amazing breadth of the hair restoration speciality. With internationally renowned speakers from the world of hair transplant surgery, trichology, plastic surgery and scalp micropigmentation.
The key objectives of this conference are: to raise awareness and the reputation of hair restoration surgery in the UK and Ireland. To encourage members, other practitioners, and other professional organisations to share knowledge about hair restoration surgery. To raise the level of competence, behaviour, and ethics in all aspects of the professional practice of hair restoration surgery, as well as to encourage education in relevant skills.
The conference will start at 09:30 am on Friday, May 10, with a session titled "Non surgical options for treating genetic pattern hair loss". This will feature sessions on Genetic testing, using Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to treat hair loss, use of polynucleotides in hair loss, Tricopat multimodality therapy, Insurance for registered and non-registered practitioners. Speakers include Gustavo Torres, Nicole Chiang, Xavier Goodarzian, Hubert Lacki and Gerry Barrett.
We will also have another morning session titled "managing female hair loss holistically", which will feature a variety of speakers including Emma Furlong and Chloe Heyworth who will be looking at the future of female hair restoration.
In the afternoon, there will be sessions on "managing male hair loss holistically" and "managing the ethnic patient holistically". These sessions will look at topics including: The psychological impact of hair loss in men, Creating natural hairlines and beards with micropigmentation, Hairline design expectations in patients with Afrotexture hair and Popular misconceptions about textured hair. We are pleased to be joined by Bandna Rekhi, Mark Smith, Jeffrey Ibe, Marta Teixeira and others for these two sessions.
Lastly, to close the day, at 7pm on May 10 there will be the Aesthetic Medicine Awards 2024 featuring a category for Best Hair Restoration Clinic or Practitioner. Tickets are available to be purchased here.
