Analysis of Google search data across 12 UK regions explored patient habits around cosmetic lip procedures, from lip filler prices and consultations to lip flips, natural-looking fillers and aftercare.
The research found that the West Midlands had the highest per-capita search interest in lip filler, with 238.8 searches per 100,000 residents.
Scotland followed closely behind with 222.3 searches per 100,000 people, and in third place was London, with 192.4 searches per 100,000 residents.
How was the research conducted?
This study from Dr Dray Academy analysed Google Keyword Planner search volume data across 12 UK regions for 25 lip filler-related keywords.

Total search volumes were then compared with regional population estimates to calculate the number of searches per 100,000 residents. This allows regions with very different population sizes to be compared more fairly.

What does the data reveal about UK lip filler patients?
The findings suggest that interest in lip filler is not concentrated solely in London, with the West Midlands and Scotland recording higher levels of searches per head of population.
For practitioners, this demonstrates a wider demand for cosmetic treatments, such as lip treatments across the UK, rather than demand being confined to the capital.
"The West Midlands taking the top spot shows just how strong interest in lip fillers has become outside London. People aren't only searching for the treatment itself. They're also researching prices, different techniques, safety and what kind of results they can expect," explained Dr Michael Moore, co-director at Dr Dray Academy.
The search terms also offer an insight into the questions potential patients are asking before they commit to treatment.
"Scotland ranking second is another sign that demand for non-surgical aesthetics is spread across the country. More people appear to be doing their research before booking, particularly around natural-looking results, aftercare and how long treatments last."
"London still produces the largest overall number of searches, which isn't surprising given its population and number of clinics. But once population is taken into account, the West Midlands and Scotland both show greater levels of search interest."
These findings suggest that lip filler interest is nationwide and broader than London, while the search terms themselves highlight the importance of clear, accessible information for patients researching treatment before they book.
